You can substitute some of these ingredients with other things like tomato sauce, honey, tamari sauce, liquid aminos, chopped onions, minced garlic, and sriracha.
If you do not want to prepare chicken, wings, this recipe can work with chicken breasts, pork loin, and even fried broccoli. The secret to this dish is the finger-licking delicious sauce, which can be poured over other foods as well.
Before you do anything, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Bake your wings for about 40 minutes, but flip them halfway through, until they brown and crisp up. 4 lbs (1.8 kg) chicken wings, separated at the joint
1 cup (128 g) ketchup
1 cup (128 g) light brown sugar
1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
2 tsps liquid smoke
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 tsp tsp ground black pepper
- Preheat your oven to 400 F (204 C).
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Place the chicken wings on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 35 – 40 minutes until the skin is browned and crisp. Make sure to flip half-way through the cooking time.
- While the chicken wings are baking, in a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk the ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, liquid smoke, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if desired) until the mixture is smooth.
- For the final 10 minutes of baking, pour the sauce over the chicken wings and bake them until they’re glazed.
