Instant Pot Short Ribs For All Meat Lovers Out There [Recipe]

These instant pot short ribs are the perfect dish to create for a dinner date, or if your family craves anything meat related. I prepare this dish often, sometimes on its own, and sometimes as part of a bigger meal. I also love that I can save this meal for later on.

To make this dish, I use beef short ribs, salt, pepper, onion, garlic, red wine, ketchup, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and thyme. You can use other ingredients if you want. Try using pork ribs, onion powder, garlic powder, red wine vinegar, sherry, tomato sauce, tamari sauce, honey, and oregano.

Before you start cooking, I suggest you rub your ribs with salt and pepper. I also like to cut them into 4-inch segments, so that the cooking process is easier. I add the ribs to the instant pot, then add the onions and garlic.

In the meantime, mix the other ingredients in a bowl except for the thyme, and pour the mixture over your ribs. Finally, place the fresh thyme on top.

I let my pressure cooker work for 35-40 minutes at high pressure. This duration may vary, though, depending on the cut of meat and amounts you are preparing. Once the time is done, I allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes, but you can do this manually.

Freezing and Unfreezing the Short Ribs

When you need to save this meal for later, you should still season your ribs, and place them in freezer-safe containers. Add the onions and garlic on top. Mix the sauce ingredients, and then add this on top of everything as well.

To prepare your frozen meal, add everything to the instant pot and follow the same instructions.

Serving Suggestions

Serve your tasty short ribs with mashed potatoes and green beans, or with roasted potatoes and a green salad.
